Woodland Indians were known to take great care of their wounded; as their population numbers were low. Wounded warriors left on the battlefield were usually taken prisoner by the opposing tribe and made to fight for their captors. If the wounded prisoner could not be saved, or was to badly wounded, then the warrior would have no value, and were usually put to the death.
