U.S. Infantry (Tombstone Shako)
The Anglo-American War of 1812 is a spin-off from the Napoleonic Wars then raging in Europe and other parts of the world. The Americans started the war with an invasion of Canada over the great lakes region. In many military aspects, this war is similar to the French & Indian War and the American Revolutionary War, with many actions fought amongst the primeval forests. The main weapon remains the smoothbore musket.
Due to supply limitations, the uniforms of the American soldier is quite varied. The official dress issued in 1813 is the tombstone shako and a 10-button singled-breasted coatee with lace on the collar only. The colour is to be blue but grey and brown are common.
The set contains 9 model soldiers comprising of 1 officer and 8 infantrymen. The heads and arms are interchangeable to enable the assembly of at least 20 different models. The model postures are designed for two scenarios: (i) advancing/attacking; and (ii) defending/firing line.
