Last but not least, we come to the Lydian Lancers. The Lydians had much Greek influence in their culture and their helmets were Greek in style. There is a suggestion that it was the Lydian Lancers that influenced the development of the Macedonian Companion Cavalry that also emphasised shock action.
The Lydian horse is also well known for its strength and Lydian Lancers of the Persian period would have adopted the prevalent fashion of the times.
