Cuirassiers, French Army, 1812-1815
This set contains 5 cavalry model soldiers and 5 horse models comprising of one officer and four troopers. The heads and arms are interchangeable giving permutaion of at least 20 different assembled postured.
Cuirassiers were issued with carbines in 1812 and thus wear the cartridge shoulder belt. However, cuirassiers are primarily shock troops and are used for massed charges. In such a role, their carbines are usually left behind with the baggage, such as at Waterloo. Their main weapon is thus the sword (and in the melee, the pistol).
"Without cavalry, battles are without result!" and Napoleon's cuirassiers are his premier strike force.
The model troopers can be assembled into two tactical scenarios: attacking or advancing.
The Cuirassier officer does not have the shoulder belt, and wears a long-tailed coat insted of the habit-veste (jacket with a short coattail) of the troopers. There is a glued-on plume on his helmet. His shabraque (saddle cloth) does not have the valise-bag at the back of the saddle.
We managed to squeeze in a spare right arm for a standard bearer.
Released in OCTOBER 2019.
