British 24th Foot Private Alfred Henry Hook

Alfred Henry Hook was 28 years old, and a private in B Company of the 2nd Battalion, 24th Regiment of Foot.
In the film Zulu, Hook is portrayed as an insubordinate malingerer and drunkard who only comes good during the battle. In fact, he had been awarded Good Conduct pay shortly before the battle, and reports also suggest he was a teetotaler and model soldier. Hook was posted inside the hospital as part of a small guard detail assigned to protect the patients.
