This versatile plastic set contains six sprues and represents Pict and Scots missile troops from the Late Roman period through to the Viking Age, covering two distinct and popular wargaming eras.

 

The figures can be equipped with bows or crossbows, with options for every model. 

 

Poses include shooting, loading, at rest and just loosed.  A wide selection of heads, cloaks, and hoods allows you to create varied and characterful skirmishers. 

 

The Picts, who dominated northern Scotland from the 3rd century C.E., used archers to support their massed spearmen and to launch sudden ambushes.  Fighting in rough terrain, they relied on concealment, mobility, and surprise to unsettle their enemies.  There is evidence that the Picts used an early form of crossbow similar to the late Roman arcuballista, though whether it was used primarily for hunting or warfare remains uncertain.
